If you’re advertising your webiste, getting good ranking on Google, and still want more traffic it’s time to focus on making your website viral. The primary way you can make your website viral is by making it interesting enough for someone to share your content on any number of social networks. Here are 5 ways you can create viral content to spread the word about your business.

1. Make interesting images.

If you have a Facebook account you probably notice the primary thing people do on Facebook is share images and photos. By creating interesting images and photos and share them across Facebook you’ll draw attention to your business. Be sure to put a link to your website in each post and encourage people to follow and share.

2. Make interesting videos.

If you can make interesting and funny videos people will share them. A recent study shows over 12% of all internet traffic is on Youtube. People love to watch videos. It’s a heck of a lot easier than reading an article and you can use this to your advantage. Make sure you include your domain name as a watermark in each of the original videos you share online and you’re sure to generate some extra traffic.

3. Run a sweepstakes.

People love giveaways and Facebook is the perfect place to do one. Have a drawing once a day, week, month, or whatever you can afford. Make the prize worth while and require people to like your page in order to be entered to win. Make sure you announce your winners publicly. This will provide your sweepstakes credibility and get more people to like your page and enter your contests.

4. Bribe your fans.

Give you current fans something for free in exchange for referring more likes to your page. They can do this by inviting their friends to follow your page or by sharing a link to your Facebook page on their wall.

5. Ask them to share every chance you get.

No matter what you’re posting you should always ask people to share your content. Whether it be a photo, video, or text. Just make a quick blurb bellow your post asking your friends to share.

Google’s Webmasters Guidelines are about as clear as a three year olds handwriting, but in the patent they identify some of the rank-modifying techniques they are referring to:

Keyword Stuffing – Using a targeted keyword (or set of words) repeatedly on a page to make it appear more relevant to those keywords for the search engines.

Invisible text – Placing keywords on the page that are the same colour background or given the ‘display: none’ attribute so they are invisible to human users.

Tiny text – The use of keywords in very small text on a page.

Redirects – A page may be created using spam techniques to make it appear relevant to the search engines for a number of search terms. When the user clicks to view the page, they are redirected somewhere else irrelevant to their initial query.

Meta tag stuffing – overuse of keywords in Meta tags where the keywords might not always relate to the content on the page.

Link-based manipulation – I’m not really sure anybody knows what this means anymore…so here’s the definition from the patent – “Link-based manipulation may include the creation or manipulation of a first document or a set of first documents to include a link or a number of links to a second document in an attempt to increase the rank of the second document. Some existing search engines determine the rank of a document based on the number or quality of the links that point to the document.”

I guess for the majority of people, the only item of any concern there would be ‘link-based manipulation’, purely because it is something that is so hard to define. Unfortunately, this patent may only serve to make any definition even more ambiguous.

10 Best Link Building Practices

Posted: September 1, 2012 in Uncategorized

Link building is hardly something you learn overnight. It requires specialized insight and SEO knowledge in order for a plan to be implemented effectively. Adhering to the following ten best practices for effective link building will optimize your backlinks:

1. Alter Your Anchor Text

Search Engines still heavily weigh SERP’s towards the anchor text of links to your page. Anchor text should always reflect the content. By altering your anchor text, you will keep your site highly relevant and highly ranked.

2. Deep Links

Incorporate your link building strategy throughout your site, not simply to one or two pages. An average link pattern shows links to various destinations of the site. However, there is no average deep link ratio. Most sites behave differentially. For example, blogs tend to have more deep links than the average household name website.

3. Indirect Linking

Link building success can also be supported by utilizing an indirect link strategy. Instead of solely pointing links to your page, it’s also helpful if you boost sites that link to you.

4. Create NoFollow as do follow links

The no-follow attribute of a link has been designed to tell search engines that a particular link should not give any credit to the linked site. Even though no-follow links don’t pass any juice, it is important to create a balanced backlink structure to your site.

5. Build Links on High, Medium and Low PR websites

Remember Best Practice Rule #1, alter anchor text? The same notion applies to link building on a range of PR sites. Authority links are great, but a mix of high and low PR sites is the way to go.

6. Smooth Out Your Link Growth

Effective link building should be a marathon, not a race. It is important to balance the amount of links you acquire daily.

7. Diversify Your Links and Link Mentions
Strategic link building isn’t an all or nothing proposition. So why would you put all your proverbial eggs in one basket? Create links and spread your link mentions across the online landscape.

8. Use Various Tactics

Devise a strategic link building plan that ensures your goals are in line with reality. Consider a top ranking with a long-tail keyword combination. It could be way more profitable than trying to shoot for the stars.

9. Engage in the Conversation

For good rankings, industry relevancy is the key to success. Make sure that you and your site are heard from. Listen and engage in the online conversation.

10. Run, Don’t Walk From SEO Spam-Havens

Today, link farms and tons of link directories are mostly deemed worthless. Don’t seek success in spam-havens or link-exchange networks. When you’re ready to incorporate link building into your Organic Search initiative, you need to consult with experts who understand link building best practices.

A major part of the Search Engine Optimization activity and largely revolves around Keywords and Keyword Optimization. If you approach Search Engine Optimization in terms of keywords, it is all about researching and choosing the right keywords and using it in the right manner, in the right proposition in your website content.
Keywords form the basic foundation of your website which helps the search engines understand the theme and topic of your website in detail. This eventually helps in ranking your website on the search results for specific keywords to your targeted audience.
In this article, we are going to present you with three golden tips on Keyword Optimization which can enable you to extract maximum SEO benefits for your blog.
Tip #1: Long Tail keywords
Long tail keywords are regular keywords but contain more keywords in the phrase (more than 3 or 4). Long tail keywords help you in narrowing down your search and enable the search engines to retrieve more specific results, much closer to what you are looking for. Since long tail keywords are searched less, it will generally have lesser competition in the search engines. This gives you an SEO advantage and helps your website rank higher on the search results for those keywords pretty much easily.
As a blogger you must try to incorporate more specific long tail keywords in your content that can draw more targeted traffic to your website. This is only possible through in-depth and highly comprehensive keyword research. A detailed keyword research will help you find out less competitive long tail keywords for your website. These keywords may have a lower search volume but it will certainly attract some highly targeted and quality traffic to your blog.
For e.g., If you are a dealer for air filters for Ford SUVs in Chicago then you must choose a more specific keywords (or long tail keywords) in your website content for drawing more targeted traffic. Some of the examples of such long tail keywords would be “air filters for Ford SUVs Chicago” or “Chicago Ford SUV air filters”. Some of the examples of less specific, generic keywords are “air filters for Ford” or “air filters for Ford” or “air filters for automobiles”

Tip #2: Targeting your Audience
After you have researched and shortlisted your targeted keywords, you must incorporate them in your website content in the right manner. It should be done in such a way that your web pages or blog posts show up in the top slots of the search results when your target audience gives a query using a keyword phrase that matches your keywords of your content.
Targeting your audience is one of the most important aspects of keyword research. You must understand who actually, are going to be your audience and then comes your entire work of keyword research and implementation. If you don’t understand and properly analyze your audience, then there in no point of writing content or keyword optimizing your website for them.
The keywords should be sprinkled in your website content in the right proportions in the page title, headings and main content of your web pages that matches the search queries of your audience. This will easily bring up your web pages or blog posts in the top 10 results of the search engine results pages. And this is exactly what Search Engine Optimization is all about if you talk in terms of keywords.
The positions of the keyword in the body of the article is one of the most important part of on-page optimization. As stated earlier, the page title and headings are the most important places where your keyword must be present at least once. Here are some of the most important aspects about Keyword Placement in a nutshell:-
• The keyword must be present in the TITLE of the pages as it holds maximum importance for the search engines. If possible, make the keyword available at the first position of the TITLE. Various SEO research’s shows that the presence of the keyword in the very first position of the TITLE yields much better results in the SERPS.
• The keywords must also be well placed in the HEADINGS of the content. The headings refer to the H1, H2, H3 and so on tags. The H1 heading should be used in a page only once and the keyword must be present in it as it holds good correlation to better rankings. The keywords must also be made available in the other headings if possible. But keep one thing in mind, keyword placement should look very natural and not spammy at all. Otherwise it will irritate your readers and will make you a victim of SEO spam.
• Presence of the keyword in the BODY of the content uniformly is also very important. These keywords imparts relevancy to the page or the site. Using the keywords properly and uniformly in very important. The primary keywords MUST be present in the first 100 words and the last hundred words. And in the rest of the article, it should be present uniformly. Not only the primary keyword, but the LSI keywords must also be taken well care of.
QUICK TIP: If you are using a WordPress.org, self-hosted blog, I would highly recommend All In One SEO Pack Plug-in for you.

Tip #3: Keyword Density
Keyword density is another Search Engine Optimization aspect that will help your web pages to cut through the competition and stay on top of the search results. The ideal keyword density for SEO for your targeted long tail keywords can be anywhere between 1 to 1.5%. Don’t ever try to over optimize your site, as Google and Bing are clever than you and will surely catch you if you do some thing unnatural and spammy.
Let me give you can example, how higher keyword density can make your content look extremely spammy to both the readers and the search engines. Suppose you are writing an article of 3000 words with your primary keywords to be ” Dog Foods”, and you take your keyword density to be 5%. Then you will have to use your keyword “Dog foods” 150 times. Now just try to imagine a situation where your readers will find the same keyword “Dog Food” again and again. It will make the article look extremely spammy to both the readers and the search engines and there are huge possibilities of getting your site penalized for keyword stuffing or keyword cloaking.
You can easily find out the keyword density of your articles and blog posts with the help of any of those free keyword density checker tools available on the internet.
But it’s a good thing to keep note of the formula for calculating the keyword density. Here it is.
Keyword Density = Your Targeted Keywords (Divided by) Total Number of Words in your Article (Multiplied by) 100.
I am sure these 3 search engine optimization tips and techniques on keywords will surely help you attain better rankings in the search results and improve your website traffic in leaps and bounds.
Remember that, the right keywords are the basic pillars of your online business. So always be sure to spend enough time in research to choose the most appropriate and profitable ones for your website, which can easily convert dull, cold visitors into piping hot prospects.
